Peyna: Hotels and Accommodations

Peyna is included in a documented route to Dryanovo Monastery, described as part of the route of the group of Pop Hariton and Bacho Kiro. The Peyna Complex is also located near the ancient Roman market of Diskoduratera, whose remains are still visible. Culture

Dryanovo Monastery is one of Bulgaria’s 100 national tourist sites. Diskoduratera was declared a cultural monument of national importance in 1967. The still-active Church of St. Nicholas has the status of a national cultural monument and was restored in 2000. It was built in 1851 on the foundations of an older church and is described as Kolyu Ficheto’s first attempt to develop his own style. Its wall paintings date from 1926, and three iconostasis icons are by Stanislav Dospevski.

In Zaya, the ethnographic collection “Rural Life in the Dryanovo Region,” established in 2010, presents domestic life, a hearth, clothing, women’s handicrafts, men’s handicrafts, and agriculture.

Nature

Bacho Kiro Cave has been designated a natural landmark since 1962. The Dryanovo Eco Trail has three viewpoints near Boruna Fortress and offers a panorama toward Dryanovo Monastery. The wooden bridges and stairs on the Dryanovo Eco Trail are currently impassable.

The area of the via ferrata around Dryanovo Monastery is associated with Degenov dill, cyclamens, around twelve species of bats, mouflons, foxes, deer, and fire salamanders.

Routes

A 10-kilometer cycling route leads from Dryanovo via Tsareva Livada and Docha to the Strinava Plateau and onward to Dryanovo Monastery. In the area around the monastery, climbing with single-rope alpine technique is also associated with the site; the cliffs there reach heights of up to 80 meters.

The Peyna Complex is accessible by car. The old Bulgarian holiday complex “Peyna” is located in Peyna and consists of the “Peyna” Complex and the “Chernitsata” House. Peyna Guest House has an equipped kitchen, heating, a private bathroom, a television, a terrace, and a refrigerator.
