Sokolovtsi: Hotels and Accommodation

For travelers wishing to book a hotel in Sokolovtsi, the focus is on a place known regionally as the “Venice of the Rhodopes”: The nickname refers to the many bridges. In Sokolovtsi, old Rhodope houses are known for their architecture. Some traditional Kyuprii over the Byala River have been preserved; in total, Sokolovtsi has 40 bridges over the Byala River. These bridges connect almost every house on one side of the Byala River with the road.

Nature

The Smolyan–Rozhen–Plovdiv road passes through Sokolovtsi. A road branches off from Sokolovtsi toward Momchilovtsi.

Traditions

Sokolovtsi’s traditional village celebration takes place on Peter’s Day, June 29. Historically, Sokolovtsi has been associated with the Rozhen folklore gathering. There, residents took part in family gatherings with bagpipe music and lamb roasted on a spit. Local hosts prepare regional specialties for visitors.
