Solishta: Hotels and Accommodation

Solishta lies in the foothills of the Perelik Massif at an elevation of about 1,400 metres. Those wishing to book a hotel in Solishta can then continue their accommodation search.

Nature

Solishta lies in the valley of the clear Solitska River, a tributary of the Shirokalashka and Vacha rivers. East of Solishta, meadows and pastures are bordered by old forested areas extending to the rounded ridges of Karlak and Perelik. On the southern side, the village extends to the Karlen Massif, including Turlata and Shilestata Chuka.

Hiking and Mountain Sports

Mountain trails lead from Solishta to shepherds' huts, dairies, the high pastures of Karlak, springs and small streams. Solishta is described as a place with conditions suitable for skiing and mountain tourism.

A marked eco-trail connects the area around Solishta with Shiroka Laka. One described route leads from Solishta towards Gela and the Lednitsa Hut. Routes from Solishta towards Turlata and Stikal are also described. Fishing can be attempted in spring along the small Solitska River near Solishta.

Compared with the neighbouring villages of Shiroka Laka and Gela, Solishta has less tourist traffic; at the same time, comparable conditions for mountain hikes are mentioned. An activity at the Tsankov-Kamak Reservoir is described as lasting one to three hours and includes an introduction and life jackets.

Culture

Solishta's most important local celebration is associated with the church festival of St. Nedelya, which takes place in early July. Exarch Stefan I worked as a teacher in Solishta from 1896 to 1900. Celebrations in Solishta include communal kurbans, bagpipe music and horo dances.
