Hiking

A detailed hiking route leads from Yarlovo via Pogledets, Voychinov Rid, Siva Gramada and Skoparnik to Cherni Vrah. The stated duration is 5 hours 10 minutes, with 1,340 metres of ascent.

The official Route VIII.1 begins in the centre, passes behind the churchyard and runs through pine forest towards Pogledets. On the official Yarlovo route, Voinchinov Rid offers panoramic views in all directions.

The shorter Yarlovo–Yarema route takes 2 hours 50 minutes and includes 300 metres of ascent. It begins in the village centre and opens up views in all directions. The official Route VIII.3 from Yarlovo to Bukapreslap and Gorna Dikania is described as a 2-hour-55-minute hike with 140 metres of ascent and 330 metres of descent.

From St Dimitar, a marked forest path leads to the Smilyo shelter, 3.5 kilometres away.

Nature

The Palakaria River flows through Yarlovo. It rises below the Vitosha summit of Kupena and flows into the Iskar. A large part of Yarlovo's land lies within Vitosha Nature Park.

Culture

The Sveta Nedelya Church is one of the largest churches in the Samokov area. The present church was built between 1891 and 1906 on the site of an older church.

Roman defensive fortifications have been identified at the Gradishte site above Yarlovo. The Palakaria River was locally known as the “Gold-bearing River”; gold panning supported several families from Yarlovo until almost the beginning of the 20th century.

An annual Petkovden fair takes place above Yarlovo at Babina Koria. A spring beside the Sveta Petka Chapel at Babina Koria is described locally as having healing properties.

Less than two kilometres west of Yarlovo's centre is the Sveta Petka Chapel, which can be reached by road. At the St Dimitar site are the ruins of an old Christian church, less than one kilometre northwest of the centre of Yarlovo.

Yarlovo has bus connections with Samokov and Sofia.
