History and Culture

The Kršan Castle rises on a hill above an open field. It preserves a tall quadrilateral tower and a courtyard with a cistern.

Kršan has documented Glagolitic heritage: A copy of the Istrian Demarcation was found in the village, and Glagolitic inscriptions are preserved in the Chapel of Saint Anthony the Abbot.

Kršonski pir is a traditional expression of wedding folklore characteristic of Kršan and its surroundings. The performance follows the customs of courtship, engagement and wedding in nine scenes.

Festivals and Cuisine

By 2025, KrafiFest had reached its 20th edition, documenting two decades of its organisation in Kršan. KrafiFest presents traditional krafi in sweet, savoury, boiled and baked varieties.

The cycling route from Kršan includes traditional wild herb dishes and krafi, a cheese-filled pasta described as the region's best-known dish.

Kršan hosts the annual Wild Herb Festival. At the festival, exhibitors present plant-based products, while chefs prepare dishes with wild herbs. The workshops cover natural cosmetics, teas, tinctures, oils and fragrances.
