History

Gradina Ledenice was an important strategic point in conflicts in eastern Vinodol. Ledenice served as a defensive stronghold against Ottoman incursions until the liberation of Lika in 1699.

The Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel has a main altar dating from 1715, dedicated to the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary and influenced by the Baroque style. The renovated church also has a bell from 1467, originating from the old Church of St Stephen on Gradina Hill above Ledenice.

The remains of the cemetery chapel of Saint George and an old circular cemetery are located on a plateau 140 metres from Ledenice Gradina.

The Gradina viewpoint is on the Novi Vinodolski–Ledenice road, directly above Ledenice, at 379 metres above sea level. From there, the view extends over the Ledeničko Field, Novi Vinodolski, Klenovica, the Velebit Mountains and the Kvarner Archipelago.
