Luka Krmpotska: Hotels and Accommodation

Luka Krmpotska is the starting point of the Green Trail and the Heavenly Trail. The Green Trail leads over the mountain peaks of Rujnik, Sitovnik, Zagradski vrh and Kanculova glava towards Medviđak, while the Heavenly Trail covers the highest mountain peaks in the area and also runs towards Medviđak.

Hiking

The Nebeski labirinti hiking route forms a loop from Luka Krmpotska via Omar, a stone cistern, the labyrinths and Vela Sviba, returning to Luka Krmpotska.

The Green Trail begins in Luka Krmpotska next to a hunting lodge at an altitude of 750 metres and ends in Medviđak at 1,027 metres. It is 45 kilometres long. The Bater–Krasno Polje cycling route passes through Luka Krmpotska at kilometre 11.

Nature

The first section of this trail leads across mountain meadows with views of the sea, the islands of the Kvarner Bay and Mount Velebit.

The Sviba viewpoint is located along a road near the village of Luka Krmpotska, on mountain meadows below the grassy slopes of Mala and Velika Sviba. It offers views of the mountainous hinterland, inland villages, the Kvarner Bay, Velebit and Učka.

Culture

The Glass Chapel (Staklena kapelica) in Omar is described as a rare monument of religious and architectural heritage. It is located directly next to the hunting lodge at the beginning of this trail. The chapel is built entirely from a metal framework, glass façades and a glass roof, and features stylistic characteristics of Art Nouveau. Local tradition attributes the commission for its construction in the early 20th century to Petar Krpan, known as Samac.
