Geographical Location

Smolonje is located in the Gata–Cista–Ostrvica–Zvečanje–Smolonje flysch depression of Srednja Poljica, between limestone barriers and the Mosor massif.

Culture

The Studenca Bridge over the Drinjka is a protected cultural heritage structure in Smolonje. The Church of St. Vitus and the remains of the Dragošević mills are also protected cultural heritage sites.

Children from Smolonje participate in KUU Mosor Gata; its repertoire includes gatsko nijemo kolo, a form of intangible cultural heritage recognized by UNESCO. KUU Mosor Gata preserves the old customs of Poljica. Local customs in the area around Smolonje include hanging a cypress on a house when a child is born.

The local Feast of Saint Vitus is celebrated on June 15.
