In the center of Čestín, the castle complex is located on the west side of the village square and northwest of the church. The protected Čestín castle grounds include Castle Building No. 2, ramparts, a moat, and the designated plots of the complex.
History
Čestín was originally called Čestín Kostel. In 1579, Emperor Rudolf II granted Čestín town status, as well as the right to hold a weekly market and three annual fairs. Historically, Čestín was mainly home to farmers and craftsmen; the production of musical automata and barrel organs is recorded as the most significant local craft.
Culture
A church was built in Čestín between 1859 and 1861. The Night of Churches took place at the Church of St. Peter and Paul in Čestín on May 23, 2025; a program was planned there for May 29, 2026. As part of the Night of Churches program on May 29, 2026, the Church of St. Peter and Paul in Čestín was open for visits from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
