Babice: Hotels and accommodations
Babice lies southeast of Prague at the entrance to the deep Černokostelecké and Jevanské forests. Between the forest, marked trails, cycle routes, and local sports facilities, the town combines natural surroundings, activity, and traces of its own history.
Nature and trails
Several cycle routes run through Babice or lead from Babice into the surrounding area. Cycle route 0031 runs from Babice via Strašín and Svojetice toward Voděradské bučiny. Cycle route 8206 leads from Babice via Doubek and Mrzky to Zahrady u Českého Brodu, while cycle route 1A connects Babice with Žernovka. Independently of these, the KČT 1st-class cycle route runs between Prague and Brno.
Marked hiking trails are also part of the trail network: a red-marked hiking trail connects Babice with Třebohostice and Strašín, while a yellow-marked hiking trail connects Babice with Doubek and Mukařov. The main course of the Babický trail 1/4 maraton runs through Babický les.
History
Babice probably originated in the 13th century; the first written mention dates from 1381. In the 1920s, the town developed into an important recreational destination for Prague’s lower and middle classes, who built holiday homes there. A holiday hotel on the village square became a landmark of Babice.
Sports and activities
The Sportovní areál Babice is located on Topolová Street next to the kindergarten. The complex includes a 29 × 18 metre multifunctional artificial-turf sports field for various ball sports, including tennis. There is also a 100 × 58 metre grass field equipped for football and rugby.
Cyklohřiště is a pump track in the forest park near the kindergarten. It offers two tracks: one for smaller children with balance bikes, small bicycles, or off-road scooters, and another for more experienced bikers and larger bicycles. The facility is complemented by a technical zone for practising riding skills. The Babice forest park next to the kindergarten also offers children play elements in a woodland setting.
Events
The Babický trail 1/4 maraton took place on 7 June 2026, starting at the Sportovní areál Babice, and included races over 10.55 km, 5.95 km, 1,500 m, 1,000 m, and 300 m. The Babický trail 1/4 maraton is scheduled for 30 May 2027.
