Chotesice: Hotels and Accommodation

Chotěšice is located in the flat Polabian Lowland. The first historical mention of the village dates back to September 26, 1199.

Culture

West of the centre of Chotěšice, on the road to Břístev, the Church of the Sending of the Holy Apostles stands on elevated ground and forms a prominent feature of the landscape. The protected church complex includes the church, the mortuary, the cemetery’s enclosing wall, and the associated parcels of land. The single-nave building has a rectangular presbytery and a tower on the east side. The present Baroque church was built between 1746 and 1748 and restored between 1817 and 1820 and again in 1844.

The church cemetery contains several high-quality sandstone tombstones, especially in its western part, dating from the second half of the 19th century. Chotěšice also has a monument to the Crucifixion. Several farm buildings from the 19th century have been preserved in Chotěšice. In the village of Nová Ves, there is a solid stone cross with Christ dating from 1845, log house No. 5 from the early 19th century, and a two-room log granary. In the village of Malá Strana, a statue of the Virgin Mary from 1876 stands on a Neo-Gothic pedestal. Several picturesque log houses can be found in Břístev.

Nature

The Smíchovský potok stream flows through Chotěšice. On the dam of the Vražda pond stand a pear tree designated as a natural monument and two pedunculate oaks estimated to be around 300 years old. Near Nouzov, remnants of a near-natural floodplain forest can be found around the Komárovský pond. In the village of Malá Strana, a pair of black poplars stands about 50 metres from the Slatinka pond.

The forests and ponds around Chotěšice are intensively used for fish farming and the keeping of waterfowl and are therefore not suitable for swimming.
