Sany: Hotels and Accommodation

The historic Sánský Canal, which has been preserved to this day in the area of Sány, was built around 1450 to divert water from the Cidlina to the ponds near Poděbrady.

Culture

The present-day Church of St. Andrew in Sány was completed in 1827. It is a single-nave, rectangular Empire-style building with a tower above the eastern façade and is the parish church of the Roman Catholic parish of Sány.

The history of the village is also connected with Jan Čapek ze Sán: a stronghold associated with him stood at the sites of the present house numbers 2, 3 and 42. Jan Čapek ze Sán was a famous Hussite warrior and ruled from the stronghold in Sány.

Nature

The Sánský Canal originates at Bader, upstream from Sány, from the Cidlina, flows through Opolánky, passes Opolany, Odřepsy, Pátek and Křečkov, and flows into the Mrlina near Budiměřice.

A marked hiking trail runs along the Žehuň–Sány–Libice–Poděbrady route.

Events

Since 2003, the Sány Fire Brigade Association has organized competitions for the Pohár starosty obce. Since 2003, it has also organized a district league in fire attack there.

During the Želviáda canoe trip on the Cidlina, a refreshment stop is planned halfway through the route in Sány.
