Dobřejovice: Hotels and Accommodation
Dobřejovice combines a multifaceted castle history with named walking and cycling routes and the Mlýnský Pond. The castle is particularly striking: its history dates back to a former fortress that was already recorded there in 1309 as the seat of Bohuslav. The present-day castle is predominantly a Baroque building with four wings; its core is a Gothic water castle. The castle complex, including its chapel, is considered a valuable example of an 18th-century Baroque noble residence.
History and Culture
The town's musical history is also associated with Václav Vačkář. The composer was born in Dobřejovice on August 12, 1881, and died on February 4, 1954. He dedicated the polka “Dobřejovická” to his hometown.
The traditional annual calendar includes a pilgrimage for the Feast of the Holy Trinity with carousels and swings, as well as a carnival procession at the end of the carnival season.
Paths and Pond
The “Kolem dokola Dobřejovic” circular route runs along side roads, cycle paths, and well-maintained paths and includes a staircase. The “Do Čestlic po novém” walk offers a stroller-friendly option that runs outside the noise barrier in Průhonice.
The Mlýnský Pond is usually called Nový. It was created in 1987 at a site where a pond had historically already existed. A pair of kingfishers breeds along one shore of the pond, beside the circular route around Dobřejovice.
Cycling
The “Za obdivuhodnými příměstskými ekosystémy” cycling tour passes through Dobřejovice; its landmarks include Nový Pond and Cycle Route 8100.
