Culture and History
In the center of Žižice, traces of old foundations are visible at the site known as “na dvořišti.” The A-9/22/A-120Z bunker, which is part of Prague’s outer fortifications, is also located in the village. Žižice also has an open-air theater.
The surrounding villages also preserve historical evidence. A Slavic cemetery from the early Christian period is located near Žižice. Finds from the prehistoric site near Žižice are kept at the National Museum in Prague. A pagan burial ground was discovered near Luníkov.
In the Vítov district, a cross with an inscription and the year 1759 stands in the village square. The site in Vítov known as “Na Boku” is a prehistoric site with refuse pits.
Water and Fishing
The municipality of Žižice and its districts are located around the Červený potok stream. Sport fishing is available at Rybník u Jelena. A fish mat, landing net, and disinfectant are required for fishing there. Fish that visitors wish to take home are weighed by the staff and then paid for according to the price list.
Events
A football club in Žižice held the annual “Memoriál M. Maxy” football memorial tournament every July. A traditional Neckiáda in June has also been recorded in Žižice.
