Libušín: Hotels and accommodations
Culture
A settlement existed on the promontory of Libušín in the 6th–7th century. The early medieval Libušín hillfort had an acropolis and two outer baileys. It covered 12.3 hectares, making it one of the largest spur castles in Bohemia. The Libušín hillfort is classified as an important archaeological site.
The large neo-Gothic Church of St. Procopius in Libušín was built in 1908 primarily for local schoolchildren. It is a single-nave neo-Gothic building with a 32-metre-high tower, eleven cathedral-glass windows, and five windows with figurative depictions. Since the inauguration of the new Church of St. Procopius in 1908, the Church of St. George on the hillfort has served as a pilgrimage and cemetery church. An informative and educational trail has also been established in the Libušín hillfort grounds. The traditional St. George’s pilgrimage takes place here on the Sunday around St. George’s Day on 24 April. The Church of St. George and the wooden bell tower open on the last Saturday of each month.
Nature
Part of the Libušín area lies in Džbán Nature Park; there are also three significant landscape features. Dřín na Hradišti Libušín is a protected memorial tree, first designated on 2 March 2023. The Na Závini cycle path in Libušín has been completed and is ready for use by cyclists. The Jezírko Libušín natural swimming pool can be used for swimming during the summer months.
Events
The historical festival Bitva Libušín was founded in 1991. During the festival, the historical camp can be visited by the whole family; medieval ways of life and military camp life, the equipment and clothing of the fighters, historical crafts and culture, as well as historical craft products, are displayed or offered there. As part of the 33rd Bitva Libušín festival, a martial arts tournament in historical fencing will take place again.
