Jenštejn: Hotels and Accommodation

At the center of the present-day municipality of Jenštejn lies the Jenštejn Castle ruins on a rocky promontory.

Culture and History

Jenštejn Castle is a cultural monument of medieval architecture and was first mentioned in written records in 1341. Its surviving landmark is a 22-meter-high round tower. A well-preserved Gothic chapel occupies the second floor of the round tower.

Jenštejn Castle was built as a water castle. A pond protected it on the south side, while on the other sides it was protected by a circular moat carved into the rock.

Cycling

Several children’s cycling routes pass through Jenštejn: The 4.6-kilometer “Dětská trasa – výuková” is suitable for learning to ride a bicycle. The 8.2-kilometer “Dětská trasa – jednoduchá” is mostly flat. The 11.2-kilometer “Dětská trasa – pokročilá” runs approximately 70 percent along field and forest paths.

Hiking

The “Vinoř–Jenštejn” educational trail leads through the valley of the Vinořský potok stream, through Jenštejn, and to Jenštejn Castle. It has five stops featuring environmental attractions, is just under 3 kilometers long, and is marked throughout with red hiking trail signs.

A smartphone app is available for recording scores at the minigolf course in Jenštejn. Club and ball rental is available.
