Kozárovice: Hotels and Accommodation
Kozárovice is located in the Central Bohemian uplands on the eastern slope of the 568 m-high Březina mountain.
Culture and History
Kozárovice has medieval origins and is mentioned in a document from the third quarter of the 12th century. The medieval and modern-era centre of Kozárovice is an area with archaeological finds. A small late Baroque chapel stands on the small triangular village square.
The four-part Kozárovice–Vystrkov hillfort covers approximately 12.5 ha; four prominent belts of transverse ramparts divide it. The Hradiště Hradeň hillfort was built sometime in the 10th century and may have been a centre of Přemyslid colonisation in the central Vltava region.
The Chapel of the Virgin Mary in Kozárovice is a non-oriented Baroque building from the late 18th century with a five-sided chancel. It has documented rich Baroque fresco decoration; the uncovered paintings attain an exceptionally high artistic quality.
Kozárovická granite was used after 1900 in the construction of the Vienna Parliament. It can be found in the courtyard of ZvÃkov Castle and was used on the Gothic portal of the main entrance to OrlÃk Château.
Cycling Route and Surroundings
The 41.5 km-long Okolo Orlické pÅ™ehrady II cycling route passes through Kozárovice and HoluÅ¡ice and is suitable for trekking bikes. In the immediate vicinity of Kozárovice are the OrlÃk Reservoir on the Vltava and several campsites.
