Lány U Rakovníka: Hotels and Accommodation

The Baroque Lány Chateau has served since 1921 as the temporary and summer official residence of the presidents of the Czech Republic. The town is therefore home to a historic site that is also closely connected with Czech state history.

Culture

Lány Chateau offers guided tours of the representative first floor every day except Friday. The commentary focuses on the first Czechoslovak president, T. G. Masaryk.

Since 2003, the T. Masaryk Museum has been located in a Baroque Fürstenberg granary transformed through a careful architectural renovation. The museum includes a research room, a lecture hall and a small café.

A panel exhibition is dedicated to T. Masaryk’s court architect, Jože Plečnik. Through his exceptional architectural interventions, he remains closely associated with the chateau park in Lány.

The Hokejová síň českého hokeje presents a permanent exhibition about legends of Czech and Czechoslovak ice hockey, as well as ice hockey trophies. The cultural offering is complemented by the Museum of Sports Vehicles, which opened in 1997.

Nature

The Lány chateau park is open to the public from Easter until the end of October. The demonstration area of the Lánská obora educational trail also features a wooden lookout point overlooking a red deer enclosure.

Family

During the Lánská obora questing rally, the doe Eliška accompanies children along the journey of wood from seed to mature tree and finally to a wood product. The rally begins by searching for and scanning the first QR code with a mobile phone.

Getting there: From Prague, Lány can be reached via the R6 expressway in the direction of Karlovy Vary. After the exit towards Lány, road 236 continues for approximately 4 km to Lány. By train, travel to Stochov railway station and then walk approximately 2 km to Lány.
