Měšice: Hotels and Accommodation

In Měšice, a distinctive castle history combines with parkland and concrete experiences. Měšice Château was built between 1767 and 1775 on the site of an original fortress by Antonín Haffenecker for the Nostiz family as a late Baroque château.

Culture and History

Měšice Château Park is a cultural monument of the Czech Republic and is listed under number 2106 in its register of cultural monuments. A clock constructed in Prague in 1774 by master clockmaker Sebastian Londensperger has been preserved on the façade of the château. The clock, with its Baroque decorative elements, and the clockwork were reconstructed in 2006 and put back into operation on 1 May 2006. In 1775, a lightning conductor was installed on the roof of the château by Dr. Josef Tadeáš Klinkoš, a Prague professor of medicine and physics; it is described as the first lightning conductor in Bohemia. It still stands on the château today and has the form of a design created by the American statesman and naturalist Benjamin Franklin.

Nature

Měšice Château Park covers 15.24 hectares south of the château building. Měšický Park offers walks among mature trees. There is also a small pond that can fill with water after rain and is used by birds from the surrounding area.

Experiences

Jezdecká školička in Měšice offers individual and group riding lessons for beginners and advanced riders. In addition to riding courses, relaxing walks are also offered there. Age-appropriate excursions are intended for primary schools, secondary schools and parent centres; children get to know animals at close range.

The Hmatová stezka in Měšický Park is 70 metres long and allows visitors to walk barefoot over various natural materials. These include sand, gravel, mulch bark, pine cones and freshly fallen leaves from the surrounding trees. Benches along the route provide places to rest and to put on or take off shoes. Hmatová stezka is located behind Měšice Château on the left-hand side, about 100 metres along the path from the meadow.

Events

Měšický hromosvod is a local cultural event. The first edition took place on Saturday, 6 September 2025; the second edition has been announced for 5 September 2026.
