Malešov: History, Brewing Tradition and Trails Along the Vrchlice

Malešov can be approached through three distinct themes: history, landscape and brewing tradition. For visitors who want to incorporate cultural sites, landscape trails and local brewing tradition into their daily itinerary, the town offers several clearly separate points of interest. The topics range from a historical museum and a Jewish cemetery to beer, history-inspired cuisine and trails along the Vrchlice.

Culture and History

Tvrz Malešov offers public guided tours by prior arrangement. If you are fitting this activity into your schedule, making arrangements in advance is part of the planning. With its interactive exhibits, Muzeum Malešov presents local business life, local associations, notable residents and the Hussite victory at Malešov. The exhibition thus brings together everyday life, associations, personal connections to the town and a specific historical event.

On the outskirts of Malešov, in the direction of Roztěž and beyond the Vrchlice Valley, lies the Jewish cemetery. It was established in 1735. The cemetery includes a children's section with around 20 gravestones and approximately 300 gravestones in total. Zámek Kačina, a chateau, is also located in the vicinity of Malešov. Thus, the cultural theme includes both a site connected with Malešov itself and a chateau in the surrounding area.

Beer and Historical Cuisine

Pivovar Malešov continues a more than 400-year-old brewing tradition at the Malešov estate. Pivovar Malešov brews beer using the original method, without filtration or pasteurization. At the “Hostina šlechtice,” history-inspired dishes are served with Malešov beers in the stylish Krčma na konci světa. The combination of dishes and beers is the focus of an explicitly history-themed offering. In this way, the brewing tradition gains a culinary dimension in addition to its production aspect.

Trails and Landscape

From Kutná Hora, you can reach Malešov on foot via the red-marked trail along the Vrchlice. The nature trail runs through the countryside along the Vrchlice stream. The route from Kutná Hora and the nature trail are separate routes; for day planning, the two details can be considered independently. One connects Malešov with Kutná Hora, while the other follows the course of the stream.

Another hill is Písečný vrch [Malešov] in the vicinity of Malešov. (Od Rokytí k oboře) [Vidice-Roztěž] is a hill in the area around Malešov. Skalka [Tuchotice] outlook p. is also a hill in the vicinity of Malešov. Hořánck is a mountain in the wider region around Malešov. The landscape points therefore differ both in name and geographical classification: three are located in the surrounding area or immediate vicinity, while Hořánck belongs to the wider regional area.

When choosing a hotel in Malešov, travel dates, room category and cancellation conditions are separate points of comparison. These details can be considered independently of the town's cultural, culinary and landscape themes.
