Mocovice: Hotels and accommodations

Močovice combines a Neoclassical chapel with archaeological traces from many periods. The Chapel of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary can be visited; it was built in the Neoclassical style in 1831 and is considered an important cultural monument.

Culture and history

The Chapel of Our Lady is a brick building with a rectangular floor plan, a semicircular apse, and a brick gable above the entrance. A statue of Saint John of Nepomuk stands in the niche of the gable.

Several archaeological sites from prehistoric times and the Middle Ages are located within the built-up area of Močovice. The archaeological area encompasses periods ranging from prehistory through the Middle Ages to the modern era, including the Early Middle Ages and the transition from the Early to the High Middle Ages.

The Sokolovna in Močovice was ceremonially opened on July 29, 1923. Its gable still bears the Sokol emblem with outstretched wings and the Hradčany emblem.

Landscape

Močovice lies in the valley of the Klejnárka stream. The Klejnárka forms the landscape axis of the area; its surroundings include extensive floodplain soils as well as loess and loess loam.

The Zadní kupa hill [Církvice-Jakub] is located near Močovice. Kačina Chateau is situated in the surrounding area. In the wider regional surroundings lie the Krkanka, Hořánck, and Ostojovka mountains [Ledeč nad Sázavou-Souboř], as well as the Church of Saint George.

Sports and events

The grass football pitch in the sports complex by the Klejnárka meets the required dimensions for football competitions. A traditional small-sided football tournament was scheduled for Močovice: the 42nd edition included competitions for schoolchildren on Friday, June 26, from 3:30 p.m., and for men on Saturday, June 27, from 10 a.m.

In addition, a tournament in nohejbal, described as traditional, was scheduled to take place in Močovice on Saturday, August 15, from 9 a.m. on the sand court behind the Sokolovna.
