Nova Ves I: Hotels and Accommodations

The Church of Saint Wenceslas in Nová Ves I has roots dating back to around the year 1300. The Church of Saint Wenceslas and its entire complex are listed in the Central List of Immovable Cultural Monuments of the Czech Republic.

Culture and Remembrance

A new commemorative plaque at the monument on Bedřichov was unveiled on June 18, 2005; it bears Czech, German, and English texts. Every June, the commemorative event War in Lace takes place to commemorate the Battle of Kolín. The event venues include Křečhoř, Lošany, and Nová Ves I. The Kačina Chateau, a castle, is also located in the wider regional surroundings of Nová Ves I.

Landscape and Nature

Southwest of Nová Ves I, Bedřichova vyhlídka stands on Bedřichov at an elevation of 279 meters above sea level. Hořánck is a mountain in the vicinity of Nová Ves I, while Horky is a mountain in the wider regional surroundings. Nearby are the hill “(Na Větrníku) [Cerhenice]” and Chotule Hill [Veltruby].

The pond at Lom u Nové Vsi is an important habitat for amphibians, including Triturus vulgaris and Triturus cristatus. The Lom u Nové Vsi Nature Monument lies 1 kilometer west of Nová Ves I; 500 meters beyond the village, an unmarked dirt track branches off to the left from the Nová Ves I–Velim road and leads there. Lom u Nové Vsi is of geological and paleontological importance and serves as a refuge for endangered species and biological communities.

Routes and Connections

Cycle Route 0109 runs through the municipal territory of Nová Ves I toward Kolín, Cerhenice, Pečky, and Milčice. The Czech Animators’ Trail connects Kolín with Nová Ves u Kolína and introduces important Czech visual artists and animators, including Vladimír Jiránek, Zdeněk Miler, and Jiří Trnka. Its endpoint is at Václavské náměstí in Nová Ves I.
