Občov: Hotels and Accommodation
The historical monuments of Občov include the Chapel of the Virgin Mary. The small Baroque chapel, shaped like a triangular prism, was built around the turn of the 17th and 18th centuries and has been protected since 1958. It was probably built as a station on the pilgrimage route from Prague to Svatá Hora near Příbram.
Culture and History
The Column with an Image of the Virgin Mary of Svatá Hora is now a simplified replica of the original object and is regarded primarily as part of the memory of the cultural landscape. It stands on the road to Suchodol, approximately 300 to 400 metres northeast of the edge of Občov, between two linden trees. The column was probably one of the stations on the historic pilgrimage route from Prague to Svatá Hora.
The first written record of Občov dates from 1357. The local cultural heritage also includes a monument to Emanuel Hrubý, a politician of the First Czechoslovak Republic who came from Občov.
