Oplany: Hotels and Accommodations

Oplany is located in the Central Bohemian Region, 8 km south of Kostelec nad Černými lesy, in the valley of the Oplanský potok stream between mixed forests. The average elevation is 360 m; the cadastral area of Oplany covers 580 hectares.

Landscape

The Oplanka stream, also known as the Oplanský potok, flows through Oplany from north to south through a winding valley between meadows and wooded slopes. Near Rovné, it flows into the Jevanský potok and subsequently into the Sázava.

The water reservoir serves landscape-design, ecological, and water-management purposes. It increases the landscape’s retention capacity for storing water in the area.

The hills in the vicinity of Oplany include Šrámota (Chocerady-Vestec), Obícka (Lhotky u Malotic), Kamenka (Horní Kruty-Újezdec), and Na Marjánce (Zvánovice).

Culture and History

The Náramka spring lies on the Oplanka stream in the direction of Stříbrná Skalice and has been preserved to this day. Historically, it served local farmers in summer when there was not enough water for livestock in the village. The spring was also marked on Austrian military maps used in the 1866 war between Austria and Prussia.

The Chapel of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary is a listed building in Oplany dating from 1849. It was consecrated on August 15, 1849.

The wider region around Oplany is home to Konopiště Château, Práče Fortress, and the Loreta Church.

Routes and Events

Cycle route 4/B is approximately 25 km long and runs from Sázava via Nechyba, Benátky, Oplany, Hradec, and Stříbrná Skalice back to Sázava.

The KolOplan cycling competition has been held repeatedly in Oplany; announcements are available for 2018, 2024, and 2025. The Oplanská Bloudička orienteering event has also been held repeatedly in Oplany, including on September 16, 2017, and June 15, 2019.
