Oskořínek: Hotels and accommodations

Oskořínek is considered one of the oldest villages in the Nymburk region. Its history reaches back to early settlement traces, Nový Ronov Castle and Estate, as well as visible historical evidence in the village.

History and culture

The first settlement lay in the direction of Nový Dvůr near today’s houses No. 63 and 65; a country nobleman’s fortress stood there. Nový Ronov Castle and Estate were built between Oskořínek and Jeseník in 1587. In 1857, Nový Ronov Castle was converted into a sugar factory. The sugar factory that originated from the former Nový Ronov Castle burned down in 1880.

In Oskořínek stands a Baroque statue of Saint John of Nepomuk from the second half of the 18th century. According to the historian Sedláček, the name Oskořínek is associated with the service tree, a type of rowan, which formerly grew here abundantly in extensive groves. A commemorative lime-tree avenue is also recorded near Oskořínek.

On the way

The “Polabím s nadhledem” route begins at Oskořínek railway station. It is designed as a sequence of stations with various tasks and ends in the vicinity of Oskořínek at a lookout tower.
