Senice: Hotels and Accommodation

Senice combines a history dating back to the 13th century with a historic pond system. The earliest references from this period concern a fortress and settlement founded on the shore of VyhlĂ­d Pond.

History and Landscape

Blato was the largest pond in Senice’s historic pond system; its area was one third larger than that of Rožmberk Pond.

Remembrance and Events

Memorial events commemorating the activities of the SILVER A paratrooper group are held in Senice. The Municipality of Senice and Československá obec legionářská are involved.

The annual event “In the Footsteps of the Paratroopers” commemorates the drops of three parachute units into their occupied homeland in 1941. In 2025, it took place on Sunday, 28 December, at 12:30 p.m.

The raising of the maypole and the burning of the witches were announced as a joint event in Senice. Fishing competitions were also announced there.

Routes and Culture

The historic Polská cesta was a newer northern variant of the long-distance route to Kladsko and onward to Poland. It ran between Senice, Úmyslovice and Velenice between vanished ponds; fragments of the route have been preserved.

Theatre and, in particular, puppet artist Jaroslav Koloděj lived and worked in Senice for many years.

Skoukal Hill is located in the immediate vicinity of Senice. The surrounding area also includes U Borku Mountain (Záhornice u Městce Králové), Kamenec Mountain and Hořánck Mountain. Zámek Kačina Chateau is located in the wider regional surroundings of Senice.
