Páleč: Hotels and Accommodation

In Páleč stands the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary, which was built between 1333 and 1338 under Jan IV. z Dražic and was already a parish church in 1384. The single-nave building has a polygonal chancel and a west tower. The coat of arms of Bishop Jan IV. z Dražic is carved above the side entrance; the sacristy contains a Gothic octagonal baptismal font made of pink marlstone.

Landscape and Location

Páleč lies in the valley of the Pálečský potok stream. The stream rises at the western municipal boundary, flows eastwards through the municipality to Jarpice, and joins the Vranský potok there. The stream’s floodplain features riparian vegetation. Páleč also lies at the intersection of two Class III roads.

Culture and History

The remains and ramparts of the former Páleč fortress are still visible on the Na hrádku or Hrad hill. Štěpán z Pálče is also associated with the history of the village: he was born at the fortress in Velká Páleč at the end of the 1360s and became rector of the university in 1400.

Local Attractions

Páleč is home to the Muzeum historických náklaďáků. Historické náklaďáky is a private collection of commercial vehicles belonging to the Slezák family. Personal visits to the vehicle collection can be arranged in advance via Facebook.
