Dlouhá Lhota: Hotels and Accommodation

In Dlouhá Lhota, the local sights range from ecclesiastical monuments and the history of the chateau complex to the facilities at Dlouhá Lhota Airport.

Culture and History

The Church of Saint John the Evangelist was founded in the 14th century. Its original architectural style was Gothic, and parts of the original masonry have been preserved. Inside, the church contains a carved winged altar from the 14th century, with the Virgin Mary in the centre and depictions of Saint John on the sides. The church tower still contains a bell dating from 1493.

The original fortress was burned down during the Thirty Years' War; a chateau was built in its place in the 17th century. Renovations carried out at the end of the 18th century gave the chateau its current Neoclassical character. The chateau is privately owned and not open to the public.

Nature

An English park now stands on the site of a French garden laid out in the 18th century. The chateau park includes paths, historic benches, pavilions and swings. In its upper section is a faithful replica of a Neolithic pagan place of worship. Visitors are invited to use the chateau sanctuary as a quiet, meditative place.
