Ruda U Nového Strašecí presents itself through three clearly defined themes: cultural heritage, nature and trails.

Culture and Landscape

The Chapel of the Guardian Angels is a valuable Baroque chapel dating from 1749. The Amálie agricultural estate in Ruda was established around 1820; its dominant feature is a monumental granary. As a protected agricultural estate, it comprises a manager’s house, two granaries, a building with cattle stalls and living quarters, a building with a stable for horses, an ox stall and living quarters, a barn with a gate, connecting boundary walls, enclosures with gates, and the delineated areas of the complex.

A Baroque-designed landscape extends around the Amálie estate. It includes a regular system of paths, signposts at intersections and chapels at the centers of the intersections, often accompanied by avenues. Compositional axes connect independent forester’s lodges and the Amálie, Doupno, Požáry and Karlov farm estates.

Nature

The Údolí Klíčavy Nature Reserve protects preserved floodplain meadows, woodland and the course of the Klíčava stream. The part of the Údolí Klíčavy Nature Reserve near Ruda has a high concentration of specially protected plant and animal species. The registered Klíčava floodplain near Ruda comprises a wet meadow and marsh vegetation.

Trails and Educational Paths

Along the road behind Ruda in the direction of Brejl, the remains of the former “Prague–Lány horse-drawn railway” extend for approximately 2.5 km. The excursion “Following the Prague–Lány Horse-Drawn Railway” can be completed by bicycle. The “Scent of Smoke and Conifers” educational trail runs through Ruda. Ruda is also served by a marked green hiking route of the KČT.
