Culture and History

The Boží muka wayside shrine ensemble in the Na Březinkách fields was restored in 2002. Historically, Strážiště was one of the 112 subject villages belonging to Hradiště Cistercian Monastery.

The chapel on the village square was reconstructed in 2000 in cooperation with the heritage preservation authorities. In Kozmice, there is a stone statue of the crucified Christ between two angels dating from 1830.

The ruins of the former Pytlíkovský Mill are located about two kilometres from Strážiště in the valley of the Zábrdka. At the former mill site in the vicinity of Strážiště, collapsed walls of the building and the machine room, stairs, and traces of the millrace have been preserved. Finds were made in the upper section of the Zábrtky valley northwest of Strážiště.

In the wider regional surroundings of Strážiště are the ruins of Starý Berštejn, as well as the Chapel of the Holy Trinity, a church, and Valdštejn, also a church.

Landscape and Trails

The Kozmice district of Strážiště lies on a plateau between the valleys of the Zábrdka and Mohelka streams. A blue-marked hiking trail runs in the vicinity of Strážiště.

The mountains Velká Buková and Malá Buková are located in the vicinity of Strážiště. Mount Lysá and Ještěd are located in the wider regional surroundings of Strážiště.

Events

The traditional dance event Jarní vánek takes place in Strážiště every year. At the beginning of December, the Advent season is traditionally opened on the village square by lighting the Christmas tree. At the end of November, a traditional lantern procession with the release of balloons takes place in Strážiště.

The traditional Kozmický drn nohejbal tournament takes place at the beginning of summer; the fire brigade participates in its organisation.
