Hradec: Hotels and Accommodation

Hradec is a separate settlement with a predominantly recreational character. The Hradec hillfort lies on a broad promontory rising above the Jizera northwest of the town centre.

Culture and History

The 9th-century Hradec hillfort served a watch function at an important river ford. Its southeastern side is bordered by a rampart up to 3 m high; in front of it was a ditch that can no longer be identified today. Several archaeological finds from the Hradec site are kept at the town museum in Mnichovo Hradiště.

Nature

Below Hradec, the Jizera flows past high rocky banks. On its right bank lies a natural formation characterised by marshes and poplars, which has always been called “ostrov”.

Getting Around

Regional cycling route No. 8050 (223) runs via Mnichovo Hradiště, Sychrov, Hradec, Březina and Kurovodice. The fourth stage of the Zittau Way of St. James from Český Dub to Mnichovo Hradiště also passes through Hradec and is 22 km long. The route towards Kurovodice is mentioned as a starting point for access to the Český ráj Protected Landscape Area.
