Culture

The Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk stands on the village green in Veltruby, opposite House No. 5. Its sandstone portal bears the year 1841; inside is a polychrome statue of Saint John of Nepomuk.

History

The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary received its current dedication on December 14, 1980. On October 30, 1986, it was entered, together with the statue of Saint Wenceslas, in the central register of the Czech Republic as an immovable cultural monument.

The present-day late Neoclassical church between Veltruby and Jezeřany was completed in 1846. At the early medieval hillfort of Svatovík, the remains of the former fortifications can now be recognized only as an inconspicuous rise in the terrain.
