A specific historical reference to Volenice dates back to 1506: that year, the village was already part of the Březnice estate. In 1911, almost the entire village burned down.
Culture
Březnice Chateau is a national cultural monument. The exhibitions at Březnice Chateau cover the history of individual noble families and art periods from the Renaissance to the 19th century.
During a comprehensive renovation of the Church of St. Wenceslas in Bubovice, old interior paintings were discovered in 1907. The church has a Gothic portal on its exterior wall; five tombstones are set into its walls.
The Church of St. Barbara in Pročevily developed from an original chapel to which ambits were later added. All three settlements in the municipality of Volenice contain valuable examples of vernacular architecture.
The Březnice Brewery also combines architectural and craft traditions: its building is a Baroque cultural monument, and beer has been brewed there since 1506.
