Jezvina: Hotels and Accommodation

Jezvina lies on the edge of forests and meadows next to Hradce. The village is also located on the Jezvinský potok stream.

The first written mention of Jezvina dates from 1352, when the Rožmberks acquired the so-called “sedlčanské zboží”. Medieval records distinguished between Horní Jezvina and Dolní Jezvina; they were also called Větší Jezvina and Menší Jezvina there. In historical Czech writings, the settlement was also called Jezviná, in addition to Jezvina and Jezvino.

There was a farmstead in Jezvina, mentioned in 1539 as part of the Křepenice estate. The 1654 Berní rule tax register names the two farmers Martin Štěpánek and Kříž Pejša; they owned 81 strychs of arable land, equivalent to 23 hectares. The farmers of Jezvina followed a three-field system and kept cattle, horses, and breeding sows. The Tereziánský katastr of 1756 records an area of arable land similar to the former area.

The farmers of Jezvina had to work three days a week for the manorial estate with two teams of oxen. Historically, two-thirds of a kopa of carp had to be delivered from the village pond in Jezvina. When the foundations of Matěj Švagr’s cottage, house number 1, were being dug in 1886, a cup containing Czech silver groschen was found.

The pond in nearby Hradce was dredged in 1988 by the local organization of the Český rybářský svaz from Sedlčany. The bell in nearby Hradce was solemnly consecrated in 1990 and given the name Josef. Manual bell ringing in nearby Hradce was replaced by electric ringing in 1993.

The open-air museum in Vysoký Chlumec is a branch of the Příbram Mining Museum. It presents residential, agricultural, technical, and religious buildings dating from the mid-17th to the early 20th century. The collection includes a water-powered frame saw from the mid-19th century.

The open-air museum in Vysoký Chlumec organizes cultural events every year, including Masopust, Crafts Day, “Soldiers in the Village”, as well as Christmas and Easter events.
