Vysoký Chlumec: Hotels and accommodations

The brewing exhibition in Vysoký Chlumec documents that the first written references to brewing beer there date from 1466. It displays old beer bottles, cooperage tools, labels, beer mugs and beer coasters. Visits to the exhibition can be arranged in advance through the local information centre.

At the Vysoký Chlumec Open-Air Museum, residential, agricultural, technical and smaller sacred structures are gradually being relocated to the natural grounds in the stream valley. Indoor exhibitions illustrate rural living and farming. Visitors can see a total of 24 buildings; 14 of them are accessible through indoor or special exhibitions. The open-air museum offers two visitor routes: a self-guided tour and a guided tour.

The Vysoký Chlumec Open-Air Museum's programme includes the traditional annual Masopust celebration. It also includes full-day programmes under the title Day of Crafts.

Vysoký Chlumec is situated in the picturesque landscape of Střední Povltaví, which belongs to the Toulava tourist region. In the vicinity of Vysoký Chlumec stands the Chapel of St Anne; it was the first work of the local builder František Holan.

Near Vápenice lies the Vápenská jezera natural locality, which has been designated a protected area because of its rich population of waterfowl.
