Zbečno lies in the valley of the Berounka, in the Křivoklátská vrchovina area, and is part of the Křivoklátsko Protected Landscape Area.

Nature and Trails

The Naučná stezka Brdatka is a 7 km-long educational hiking trail of moderate difficulty. Along the trail, 17 information boards provide information about the protected area, fauna, flora and forest; the route also includes the Gloriet viewing pavilion. One station offers views of the Berounka valley and the panorama of the wooded Křivoklátsko hills.

Another hike is the Procházka přemyslovským hvozdem. It is 7.5 km long, is of moderate difficulty and leads from Křivoklát railway station to Zbečno railway station.

Culture and History

Hamousův statek in Zbečno is one of the oldest publicly accessible monuments of folk architecture in Central Bohemia. The exhibition presents traditional crafts and life on a rural farmstead. Every Sunday, homemade bread is baked in the farmstead’s old oven.

The Roman Catholic Church of sv. Martina in Zbečno was built in the mid-14th century. After being damaged, the Gothic church received Baroque façades and interiors during an extensive reconstruction in 1715. The church parish is still active; the church is used by the Roman Catholic Church for regular services. The Masaryk Bridge, dating from 1924–1925, also crosses the Berounka.

Berounka

The Vodácká naučná stezka Berounka has 14 stations with information boards about the Berounka River, local nature, history and notable personalities. One designated station is located at Kemp Riviéra in Zbečno.

Transport

Zbečno is located on the Beroun–Rakovník railway line and has train connections. A direct bus connects Zbečno with the city of Kladno.
