Zdice: Hotels and Accommodation

In the centre of Zdice on the main road stands the protected complex of the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary. It comprises the church, the mortuary chapel and the surrounding stone wall. The church dates from the mid-18th century; the current Baroque building was constructed in 1747–1749 after the original Gothic church had been demolished.

Culture and History

The Zdice Town Hall is listed as an immovable cultural monument. Its cellar contains preserved Gothic barrel vaults.

The Zdice Cinema is a cultural monument and a unique building in the spirit of Cubist architecture. It was built at 481 Zahradní Street in 1926–1927 to a design by Jaroslav Pouch and Václav Zazvonil. The building features Rondocubist decoration; its main façade bears a sculpture by Vlastimil Amort.

The Army Museum Zdice is located in the grounds of the former Zdice barracks on Čs. armády Street. It presents the military history of the 20th century, with a focus on the Second World War and military technology.

Poncarovy Zdice is a cultural event founded in 1999 at which the residents of Zdice commemorate the composer and conductor Josef Poncar with a brass-band concert.

Nature and Activities

Knihov Hill was converted into a forest park in 1923. The Lesopark Knihov educational trail includes 12 exercise elements as well as the Tyršova stezka trail for children with tasks.

The Zdice swimming pool complex also includes a children’s playground and a beach sports area. Hájemství zelené is a hiking and cycling tour held in the second half of April.

Getting There

A direct R16 train service runs from Prague Main Station to Zdice; the journey takes approximately 50 minutes.
