Bykoš can be explored from several perspectives: through its landscape, townscape, history, and a specific local offering.

Nature and landscape

The eastern half of the Bykoš municipal area lies in the southern part of the Český kras Protected Landscape Area. The cadastral area of Bykoš also includes Protection Zones II and III of this protected landscape area. The northern part of the Bykoš area is home primarily to notable viewpoints.

Townscape

Bykoš developed as an agricultural clustered settlement with an elongated village green at a crossroads. The original urban structures have been preserved in the layout of the settlement and are to be preserved and protected. The original character of the buildings has also largely been retained. Among the buildings in the settlement, a farmyard stands out at the southern crossroads; the entrance gates to the farmsteads are another distinctive feature of Bykoš.

History

Bykoš is mentioned in writing as early as 1170. Archaeological finds attest to Neolithic settlement from 5500 to 4300 BC, as well as later sites from the Bronze Age, the Early and Late Iron Ages, and the Roman Imperial period. Finds of Linear Pottery culture and Stroke Ornamented Pottery culture, as well as stone tools, have also been discovered.

On site

Dýňová farma Bykoš offers pumpkins for decoration and carving, as well as edible varieties such as Muscat, butternut, and Hokkaido pumpkins. There is also a billy goat, rabbits, chickens, a jumping clown, and other attractions for children. On weekends, and on weekdays by prior arrangement, refreshments such as pumpkin soup, grilled dishes, pumpkin cake, and mulled wine with fruit are available.
