Zichovec: Hotels and Accommodation

Zichovec lies on the border of the Džbán Nature Park. At the southeastern edge of Zichovec lies the Zichovecký rybník pond, where kingfishers are regularly observed.

Culture and History

The Zichovecký kromlech, also known as Kamenný kruh v Zichovci, was created in May 2010 on the edge of Zichovec above the pond. It is a modern reconstruction of prehistoric stone circles and was created as an experimental contribution to research into the purpose of Celtic and pre-Celtic structures. The first surviving written mention of Zichovec dates from 1407. On December 18, 1924, Zichovec became an independent municipality.

Events

Sport fishing at the Zichovecký rybník pond is usually carried out according to the “catch and release” principle. Every spring, Pálení čarodějnic takes place on its banks next to the kromlech. Zichovecká 24 is a traditional 24-hour carp fishing competition at the Zichovecký rybník, in which teams of two—one local angler and one guest—compete. Hvězdný Zichovec is a traditional public event in Zichovec at which the Moon and several deep-sky objects are observed.

Getting There

Zichovec can be reached from the expressway in the direction from Prague to Chomutov via the Hořešovice or Panenský Týnec exits.
