Červený Kostelec: Hotels and accommodations
Červený Kostelec combines a fairy-tale-themed trail near the town center with registered cultural monuments, historic religious buildings, an annual folklore festival, and trails leading to Špinka Pond.
Nature and trails
The Božena Němcová Fairy-Tale Trail comprises six stations with wooden elements, tasks, puzzles, and a theatrical scene. It leads through a forest near the town center, is freely accessible, and is suitable for strollers.
Route No. 010 – Červenokostelecké rybníky follows a red-marked hiking trail and a cycle path to the dam of Špinka, the largest pond on the route. Near the town center there is also a cemetery with the Chapel of St. Cyril and St. Methodius on Chrby Hill. With its abundant greenery, it forms an extension of Smetanovy sady.
Culture
The Church of St. James the Greater is registered as a cultural monument. It was originally a Gothic building from the 14th century; it is documented as a parish church as early as 1362. The home of Božena Němcová is also registered as a cultural monument. The exhibition there includes historic furnishings and examples of the spinning practices typical of Červený Kostelec in the first third of the 19th century.
The cemetery chapel of St. Cyril and St. Methodius was completed and consecrated in 1865. It has an organ dating from 1873, which can also be used as a concert instrument. The chapel's Stations of the Cross comprise fourteen stations created by V. Střihavka in 1875.
The new amateur theater, Divadlo J. K. Tyla, was built from 1924 to 1925. Its auditorium seats 398 spectators without extensions. The Žižkův sbor was completed in June 1927 and is accessible only from the outside.
