Slemeno forms part of the continuous built-up area of the municipality of Dolní Kalná, in the valley along the upper course of the Kalenský potok. The signposted cycle route 4302 leads via Horní Olešnice to Slemeno.

Cycling

The 47 km route “Circuit from Kalná via Kateřina” passes through Slemeno and is intended for experienced cyclists. Another connection is cycle route 4294, which leads from the starting point of the cycle routes in Dolní Kalná to Hostinné. After reaching the centre of Dolní Kalná, it runs along the cemetery wall and then continues through the forest to the swimming pool.

Landscape and Surroundings

The “Stará zemská stezka” route offers views of the panorama of the Krkonoše Mountains, with Černá hora as a distinctive peak and, in places, views of Sněžka as well.

The Lázně church and the mountains Černá hora, Tetřeví vrch and Přední Žalý are located in the vicinity of Slemeno. The mountain Zadní Žalý lies in the wider regional surroundings of Slemeno. Spalona Strażnica, a ruin, is also located in the wider regional surroundings of the village.

After rain, the local stream becomes cloudy due to the red clay typical of the area.

Culture

Slemeno is home to a statue of Saint John of Nepomuk, with reliefs on its pedestal. There is also a memorial to the victims of the First World War, depicting a woman gazing into the distance.

The niche in a wayside shrine in Slemeno is empty; the engraved year 1770 has survived.

Other entries under the same overarching destination: Velky Vrestov, Debrne, Žacléř, Hajnice, Dolní Malá Úpa, Prostřední Lánov, Lampertice, Bílá Třemešná.

To the overarching travel overview: Trutnov District.
