Čermná v Krkonoších: Hotels and Accommodation

Čermná v Krkonoších stretches along both sides of the valley of the Červený potok at an average elevation of 450 metres. The surrounding area is suitable for excursions in both winter and summer, combining a clearly recognisable valley location with a year-round seasonal character.

History and Architectural Heritage

Čermná was established in the 13th century before the beginning of German colonisation. The first written mention dates from 1362; at that time, the first known owner of the municipality, Tyček of Ivanovice, made his living here.

The history of the Church of St Wenceslas includes several significant dates: the original church was built in 1384. After the former church was demolished in 1913, the present Church of St Wenceslas was completed in 1915. The local church is also the source of a Gothic Madonna and Child from the late 14th or early 15th century, discovered by chance.

Numerous traditional log cabins have been preserved in Čermná. Two groups of these log cabins south of the stream are considered particularly noteworthy and complement the historical traces of the village with a distinctive rural element.

Cycling Route and Trails

The Komenského cesta trail connects to Cycling Route 4300 and runs through Čermná to Vlčice. Cycling Route 4300 passes through Čermná, with the village located at kilometre 6.00 of the route. It is classified as moderate to difficult and runs over asphalt, gravel and paved surfaces.

Events and Traditions

Local events held in the church include an Advent concert and other events. Local traditions in Čermná also include the “Memoriál Františka Štočka” firefighting competition.

The annual Čermská pouť pilgrimage was scheduled to take place in Čermná on 9 July 2022, with an all-day programme for children and adults.
