Schlaggenwald: Hotels and Accommodation

At the beginning of the 13th century, a new mining colony was established near an older miners’ settlement. Following the influx of miners from Saxony, it developed into the small town of Horní Slavkov around 1335. In 1547, it was granted the status of a royal mining town.

The technical side of mining has also been preserved in the historical record. Dlouhá stoka is an artificial water channel that was newly extended between 1531 and 1536. Above Horní Slavkov, together with side channels and several ponds, it formed a water system that enabled the operation of mining facilities in the district. Timber for the mines was also floated along Dlouhá stoka. The Kašpars Pluh drainage adit served to drain the historic silver and tin district; its construction began in 1539.

The Uranová Golgota educational trail presents the mining history of Horní Slavkov and the surrounding area, particularly uranium mining in the 1950s.

The Ležnický skanzen is located in the renovated former farmhouse “U Weiglů” at house number 810 in Ležnice. On display are historic living quarters, a classroom from a village school, and an exhibition of agricultural machinery. The Muzeum Horní Slavkov is housed in a converted building at number 211 on Pluhova Street.

St. George’s Church features defensive elements, including three towers equipped with loopholes. The parish Church of St. George, together with the cemetery, cemetery wall, bell tower, and deanery building, forms a historic monument area in Horní Slavkov.

Hrad Loket is a castle in the vicinity of Horní Slavkov. The nearby mountains include Buková, Špičák, and Krásenský vrch. Chrudim is a mountain in the vicinity of Horní Slavkov.
