Nature

The source of the Nisa in the territory of Nová Ves nad Nisou is designated as a significant landscape feature. On Horní Černá Studnice in the municipality of Nová Ves nad Nisou, Květnatá louka is home to more than 60 species of meadow plants, including specially protected species.

The Novoveský javor has been designated a protected memorial tree in Nová Ves nad Nisou since 2010. In addition to the Novoveský javor, there is a rest area with seating, a climbing frame for children, and beautiful views of the surrounding area.

On the wet meadows of Horní Černá Studnice grow the broad-leaved marsh orchid (Dactylorhiza majalis), the heath spotted orchid (Dactylorhiza fuchsii), the lousewort (Pedicularis sylvatica), bogbean (Menyanthes trifoliata), hare's-tail cottongrass (Eriophorum vaginatum), common cottongrass (Eriophorum angustifolium) and marsh marigold (Caltha palustris).

The Prameništní rašeliniště spring fen comprises birch stands and wet meadows with populations of endangered plant species, including arnica (Arnica montana), the broad-leaved marsh orchid (Dactylorhiza majalis), fragrant orchid (Gymnadenia conopsea), round-leaved sundew (Drosera rotundifolia), common cottongrass (Eriophorum angustifolium), the heath spotted orchid (Dactylorhiza fuchsii) and Homogyne alpina.

Trails

The international Odra–Nisa cycle path runs from Nová Ves nad Nisou to the Baltic Sea and is 591 km long. The 12.5 km-long Smržovský vyhlídkový okruh leads, among other places, to the source of the Nisa and through Nová Ves.

Culture

Since 2008, the Nisanka lookout tower has regularly hosted the New Year's ascent and the spring festivals held in May as part of the celebrations of the Nisa River.

The Catholic Church of Panny Marie, Pomocnice křesťanů in Nová Ves nad Nisou dates from 1935. The Church of Panny Marie, Pomocnice křesťanů retains its original furnishings and has stained-glass windows. Since the late 1990s, local volunteers have occasionally organized concerts there in addition to regular services.

The Protestant Gustav Adolf Church dates from 1935.
