Blíževedly: Hotels and accommodations

Blíževedly combines early urban history, Baroque architecture, and hiking routes into the surrounding landscape.

History and architecture

Blíževedly was granted town status in 1290; this was also the first surviving historical mention of the town. The Baroque Church of St. Wenceslas features a ribbed vault from an original chapel dating from the 14th century. In the southern part of the square stands a Baroque Trinity Column from 1714. Blíževedly also features preserved log and half-timbered houses from the 18th and 19th centuries.

The Hospodářský dvůr probably has Renaissance origins. During the Baroque period, in the 17th and 18th centuries, it underwent significant structural development.

Historical traces in the nearby area

In the vicinity of Blíževedly, Hřídelník formerly served, among other purposes, as a prison. A ring wall and palace walls have been preserved at Hřídelník; the surviving palace walls are accessible through an impressive underground passage. The nearby area of Blíževedly also contains the remains of cellars at Ronov.

Nature and hiking trails

A hiking route over Vlhošť led through a biotope of beech forests rich in flowers. A hike over Vlhošť led as far as Blíževedly. At the end of the hike to Blíževedly, the rarer plant Sedmikvítek evropský could be observed. In the context of Kokořínsko–Máchův kraj, a hike led as far as Blíževedly.

Railway station and other places

Blíževedly railway station is located on line 087 between Litoměřice horní nádraží and Česká Lípa. The station received the title “Nejkrásnější nádraží”.
