Žďár: Hotels and accommodations

Žďár presents a historically shaped village landscape, distinctive folk architecture and striking rock formations within a small area. The village square is located in the upper part of Žďár.

Culture

The Chapel of the Most Holy Trinity stands on the village square in the upper part of Žďár. It was built in 1784 at the expense of the municipality, extensively restored in the early 1990s and subsequently reconsecrated. The building is rectangular and has a semicircular apse. The chalets of Žďár and the village square have formed a village monument reservation since 1995; at the same time, Žďár is a unique example of 18th- and 19th-century folk architecture. An old stone lane connects the upper and lower parts of the village.

Trails and landscape

The red-marked Máchova cesta E10 hiking trail passes directly by the Chapel of the Most Holy Trinity. When crossing the deep gorge from the village square to Dolní Žďár, the “Skalní domy” can be seen. The so-called “Skalní domy” are among Žďár’s notable sights, but they are not freely accessible because residents use them as storage and work areas.

Geographical setting

The ruins of Starý Berštejn and the mountains Berkovský vrch, Lysá, Nedvězí [Dubá-Dražejov] and Velká Buková are located in the vicinity of Žďár. The wider regional surroundings of Žďár also include the Chapel of the Most Holy Trinity and the Church of Saint Adalbert.

A report dated November 2, 1865, describes a cast-iron cross on a stone pedestal by the village pond in Dolní Žďár.
