Landscape

The Libchava stream flows through Volfartice. Radečský kopec reaches 560 m above sea level, making it the highest point in the surrounding terrain.

Volfartice Castle is located about 350 meters from a yellow-marked hiking trail and cycle route No. 3056. As of June 24, 2026, bus route 462 operates along the route Česká Lípa – Volfartice – Kamenický Šenov – Česká Kamenice.

Culture and History

The Church of St. Peter and Paul is a single-nave building with a later-added four-sided bell tower and a rectangular ground-level sacristy. It stands in a former cemetery area surrounded by a wall. A well-maintained Marian pilgrimage site is located next to the church.

Northwest of the church, a Renaissance fortress stands on a hilltop; it was probably built around 1540. Volfartice Fortress was a manor house until 1663.

The “Hera” ceramic factory in Volfartice produced ceramic tableware for household and kitchen use. Its product range included, among other things, brown pots and jugs, flowerpots, casseroles with lids, white-inside jugs and chamber pots, as well as baking and pudding molds. The local museum houses several molds for the so-called Volfartice ceramics.

Volfartice 68 is a predominantly timber-framed two-storey building from the first half of the 19th century, with a gable decorated with slate.
