Novozámecký Pond is a national nature reserve that protects species-rich aquatic, wetland, and forest ecosystems with numerous water and wetland birds. It is also the last link in the Jestřebsko-Dokesko pond system built along the Mlýnský potok stream.

Nature and Trails

A yellow-marked hiking trail runs along the northern shore of Novozámecký Pond, on the boundary of the municipality of Jestřebí. A birdwatching station and an observation pier were built at Novozámecký Pond in 2013.

The European long-distance trail E10 is marked as a red-marked hiking route.

Culture and History

Jestřebí Castle is open to visitors from April 1 to October 31 of each calendar year.

In Újezd, now a district of the municipality of Jestřebí, the Baroque rural Chapel of Our Lady of Help was built in 1730. It has a central structure with a circular floor plan and a small tower topped by a bell, a dome, and a cross.

The Church of St. Andrew in Jestřebí was built in 1780–1781 as a late Baroque replacement after a town fire in 1768 destroyed the previous church. Opposite the church stands a Baroque rectory dating from 1730.

Below the cemetery in Jestřebí is a group of four cellars carved into the sandstone slope; one of them bears the year 1816 on its lintel. The Jestřebí cemetery grounds also include an Ionic column with an iron cross dating from 1826.
