Provodín: Hotels and Accommodation

Provodín lies at the southwestern foot of the Provodínské kameny. The distinctive landscape around the town combines a group of seven peaks with a protected natural monument.

Nature and Hiking Trails

The Provodínské kameny are a group of seven peaks composed of basalt and phonolite. At 419 m, Lysá skála is the highest peak in this group. Its summit offers views of the surrounding landscape.

The Provodínské kameny Natural Monument protects a basalt rock exposed by erosion that forms a distinctive landmark in the landscape. The area of the natural monument has been under special protection since 4 July 1956.

A green-marked route runs from Provodín towards Horní Provodín and then to a junction leading directly to Lysá skála. Provodín is the best starting point for visiting the Provodínské kameny and can be reached by car, bus and train.

History and Local Traces

The first written mention of Provodín dates back to 1376. When the Bakov nad Jizerou–Česká Lípa railway line began operating in 1867, a railway station was established in Provodín and named Jestřebí.

The Engel and Co. company was still mining glass sand in Provodín in the 1930s.

Events

The history of the Provodínská Štrapanda began at the start of 1975 with the idea of local long-distance hiking enthusiasts to organize their own event. The programme of the 2026 Provodínská Štrapanda included routes of 10, 17 and 28 km for walkers.
