Culture and History

The Church of Saint Mary Magdalene was built between 1699 and 1714; its architect was Octavio Broggio from Litoměřice. As a Baroque church, it underwent extensive reconstruction after 1989. It was saved and reopened on 27 July 1991.

The chapel on Kalvárie Hill was built in 1681 and restored in 2010. The Baroque sculpture group The Crucifixion was created between 1831 and 1833 and stands by the road bridge over the Svitávka River.

Traditional Upper Lusatian houses and rural buildings with half-timbered upper floors have been preserved in the Mařenice area. Along a section of the historic route between Kunratice, Mařenice and Krompach, crosses, plague shrines dating from the late 17th century and two religious reliefs carved into a rock face line the way.
